New MMS 2010 Schedule Planner Available
3/6/2010 1:00 AM
MMS PlannerA new download is available on the MMS 2010 site to help schedule your time at MMS 2010. The document provides a session listing grouped by timeslot, with a list of the topics being presented in that slot.

To plan your schedule simply examine the Breakouts and Instructor-led Labs listed in each timeslot and mark the sessions you wish to attend at that time. The result is a complete list of the sessions you'll be attending during the week.

Registered Attendees can also build their schedule on-line using the Schedule Builder tool on CommNet home, however this worksheet might still be useful as a pre-planner for that on-line process. To download the PDF document simply click on the folllowing link:

Please note that this file will be updated as changes are made to the MMS 2010 Session Schedule. For example the Birds-of-a-Feather topics will be added once these are scheduled.

New Breakouts: Forefront Endpoint Protection and Configuration Manager
3/5/2010 1:00 PM
Two new breakout sessions have been added to the MMS 2010 session agenda. Of interest to anyone deploying and managing Forefront Endpoint Protection, these topics cover new solutions announced at RSA this week:

Title: Security and Management Converge at the Endpoint: Forefront Endpoint Protection and System Center Configuration Manager
Session Code: BI01
Timeslot: Tue, Apr 20th, 2:15pm
Abstract: The disciplines of system management and security can be considered two sides of the same IT coin when it comes to endpoints – one ensures that systems are configured, patched, and operating correctly, the other keeps threats and vulnerabilities from compromising the system. The upcoming release of Forefront Endpoint Protection is built on System Center Configuration Manager to deliver high levels of protection and productivity. Join this session to get an overview of what customers can expect from this convergence of security and management.

Title: Managing and Securing Endpoints with Forefront and System Center
Session Code: BI02
Timeslot: Thu, Apr 22nd, 2:30pm
Abstract: The upcoming release of Forefront Endpoint Protection 2010 is built on System Center Configuration Manager to provide centralized, simplified management of endpoint security. Join this session to get a technical first look at the new threat protection features in Forefront Endpoint Protection 2010, how it builds on SCCM for deployment, configuration, updating and reporting, and how customers can use these technologies to reduce complexity and lower infrastructure costs.

MMS 2010 Schedule Builder Open to All Attendees
3/1/2010 12:00 PM
The Schedule Builder tool on the MMS 2010 Communications Network (CommNet) opened for access to all registered MMS attendees on Monday, March 1st, allowing all attendees to review currently scheduled breakout and lab sessions and build their personal schedules for the event via the session booking system.

As attendees from previous years may remember, the Instructor-led Hands-on Labs (ILLs) at MMS are always popular and many sessions will be fully booked well before the event opens on April 19th.  This is especially true for the Instructor-led lab topics hosted on the opening day.

We therefore strongly recommend that attendees who plan to attend any Instructor-led Lab sessions during the week of MMS log in as soon as possible to book slots in the labs that interest them most.

ILL BOOKING RULES
All registered attendees may initially reserve a place in up to 3 Instructor-led Lab (ILL) sessions.  Two weeks before the event opens, attendees may book an additional 3 ILL sessions for a total of 6 sessions. Once the event opens any number of slots may be reserved, space permitting.  Only one ILL topic can be reserved in each event session timeslot.

MMS 2010 CommNet Now Open
2/15/2010 1:00 PM
The MMS 2010 Communications Network (CommNet) opened for access to all registered attendees on Monday, February 15th.  The CommNet site currently allows attendees to:

  • Review the currently scheduled Breakout and Lab sessions
  • Vote for or propose a Birds-of-a-Feather topic to be scheduled during the event
  • Volunteer for any of the Focus Group sessions being hosted by Microsoft Product Teams during MMS 2010
The Schedule Builder feature of the site is currently available only to MMS Alumni attendees, allowing them to build their personal schedules for the event, including reserving places in Instructor-led Hands-on Labs. The Schedule Builder will be available to all registered attendees from Monday March 1st.

As attendees from previous years may remember, the Instructor-led Labs (ILLs) at MMS are always very popular and many ILL sessions will be fully booked long before the event opens.  This is especially true for lab sessions taking place on the opening day, Monday, April 19th.

We therefore strongly recommend that those who wish to attend specific Instructor-led Lab sessions during MMS 2010 log in as soon as they have access to the Schedule Builder feature to book a seat in the labs which interest them the most.

ILL BOOKING QUOTA RULES
Registered attendees may currently reserve a place in up to 3 Instructor-led Lab (ILL) sessions during the week.  Two weeks before the event opens, attendees may add an additional 3 ILL sessions to their schedule for a total of 6 lab sessions.  Once the event opens any number of ILL sessions may be reserved, space permitting.  Only one ILL topic can be reserved by an attendee in each event session timeslot.
